Bryan Stanton was born in Whittier, CA and graduated from La Serna High School in 2002. In 2011 he received a Bachelor of Music, in Voice Performance from San Diego State University. He holds a Master's in Legal Studies with a focus on Constitutional Law. He spent the past 15 years working professionally as an actor, music director, director, and stage manager. In 2007, he began his teaching career as a private voice instructor in San Diego, Ca. Upon moving to San Antonio he obtained his Teaching Credential in Theater and Social Studies. Bryan has extensive experience working in Entertainment for The Walt Disney Company, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Knott's Berry Farm, The Merlin Company, and several regional theatres.
Bryan serves on the Board of Directors for Woodlawn Theatre in San Antonio, TX and is an avid philanthropist. He has been married to his husband, Kevin for just over 11 years and they have 4 children, Juan (17), Kelvin (14), Audrey (13), and Chloe (6).
On campus Bryan serves on the Character Education Committee helping to produce the advisory program, Beyond the Bubble. In 2020, Bryan was awarded Teacher of the Year for Alamo Heights High School.
Of campus Bryan presented workshops for Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA), Texas Thespians, and Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) on Creating Interactive Online Assignments with Google Suites, Empowering Actors with Disabilities, Managing Your First One Act Play, and Using Google Suites to Manage Program/Team/Club Finances. Bryan is a certified Google Trainer.
Shelly Bynum Junior School Theatre Director
Shelly Bynum was born in San Antonio, TX and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1996. In 2000 she received her BFA, in Acting and Theatre Education from Southwest Texas State University. She holds a Master’s in Education with Technology Integration in 2007 from Grand Canyon University. She began her teaching career at Alamo Height Junior School in the fall of 2001. In 2012 she dabbled in doing extra work on a few television shows including the Dallas reboot and American Crime. She has been married to her husband John for almost 18 years and together they have three children Brooklyn (16), Reagan (12), and Daniel (6).
Taralea Buentello Junior School Theatre Director
Taralea Buentello was born in Dallas, TX and graduated from Elsie Robertson High School in Lancaster, TX in 1988. After completing her Bachelor’s in English and minoring in Theatre Arts, she was hired and begin teaching English in SSISD. In 2006, she was hired to teach Theatre Arts and English in AHISD. She now directs the Technical Theatre classes and teaches 6th Grade Theatre Arts. In 2002 she completed her Masters in Education: Integrating Technology in the Classroom. When time allows, she writes plays. In addition, she developments Character Education Curriculum for the Junior School. She has been married to her husband Alex for 27 years, and they have 2 children, Allysen (19) and Abbygail (13).
